ABOUT US

Captain 1 Golf Society was established in 2017 by Pius Ayeh Appiah, the former captain of the Damang Golf Club. During his tenure, he was affectionately nicknamed ‘Captain 1’ by his fellow golfers in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of golf—a name he cherished.

Upon completing his term, Pius decided to create a charity organisation aimed at supporting the vulnerable and underprivileged in society. Leveraging his passion and expertise in golf, he founded the Captain 1 Golf Society. This society comprises both golfers and non-golfers, united by the goal of promoting golf at the grassroots level.

Many perceive golf as a sport for the elite and wealthy, a misconception that discourages aspiring golfers from pursuing their dreams due to their socio-economic backgrounds. To counter this, the society organises charity events, using the proceeds to support children in orphanages and vulnerable homes. These funds are dedicated to providing golf training, enabling these children to chase their dreams of becoming golfers.

Annual Charity Event

Our annual tournament, open to all golfers across the country, follows the principle of accessibility. Using a Handicap System, we level the playing field, allowing both professionals and amateurs to compete. Our charity event has outlasted many other golf events.

Monthly Medals

We have successfully hosted Monthly Medals at nearly every golf club in the country, showcasing the hard work of course superintendents and greenkeepers.

Kids Project

Our ongoing project in Kumasi, Shama, and Tarkwa trains vulnerable kids in golf. This initiative nurtures young talents and introduces golf to children across the country.

Future Plans

We aspire to have members from every facet of Ghana, especially from all orphanages and vulnerable homes.
We also dream of hosting a separate annual tournament for kids.
